Rafael Palmiero is the Karl Malone of Baseball

Palmiero became only the sixth player to reach 500 home runs and 3000 hits. Karl Malone is statistically the greatest forward in the history of NBA basketball.

During the Palmiero era, I never once considered myself lucky to have watched his greatness. I never really even cared. (Same goes for Malone.)

Longevity does not equal greatness.

Next up: Aerosmith is the Karl Malone of rock n’ roll…

If you look at Palmerio’s stats, particularly the 10 year span from 1994 – 2004, I think he has been very good – great. Thats a long time for very good – great consistency and what I think differentiates him from other “compilers” that for some reason have gotten noticed by the Hall in the past. You’re right, he’s not one of the greatest, but he should be a definite first ballot hall of famer.
