Top 5 Song Lyrics
So Britain chose the line “One life, with each other, sisters, brothers” from U2’s “One” as their all time favorite song lyric. (This, by the way, was my Senior Prom theme.)
That being said, I tried to think of my favorite song lyrics ever. It’s quite a daunting task, actually, but here’s 5 I came up with this morning, in no particular order:
Bruce Springsteen: “Show a little faith, there’s magic in the night”, from “Thunder Road”Golden Smog: “In a bar-room patrons singing, but I just sat there drinkin’, that’s until you came along”, from “Until You Came Along”
Marah: “My heart is a saxophone solo from a third story window just before dawn”, from “My Heart is the Bums on the Street”
The Haynes Boys (Tim Easton): “I don’t want to grow old, always drinkin’, but I want to grow old, drinkin’ with you”, from “Bitters Past”.
Bruce Springsteen: “The poets down here don’t write nothing at all, they just stand back and let it all be”, from “Jungleland”
What are your favorites? Which ones did I miss?

Happy Patriot’s Day ’06
Monday is Patriot’s Day, the wonderful holiday that only New England celebrates. Last year I gave a little more info about this great day.
This year, I give you a really stupid video of three dorks celebrating Paul Revere in Boston. Don’t worry, it’s short.

“It’s an early edition of The Velveteen Rabbit”
There’s this episode of Friends where Chandler buys Kathy — Joey’s flavor of the week and the girl he is completely infatuated with — an “early edition of The Velveteen Rabbit“. Joey asks if there was “any change from that $20”, to which Chandler snarkily replies “no, it came to an even $20”.
So, of course, I looked it up. The Velveteen Rabbit was published in 1922. I figured an “early edition” would be anything published before 1950, but in my travels I could only find First Editions from ’22 and then issues no earlier than 1975.
The cheapest first edition I could find, of course, was $17,436.69. I guess rent control in that building is better than I ever knew.

Good Friday 2006
I’m busting Jerry, I’m busting!
This might not resonate with readers outside of the Philly area, but I must share this extraordinary news nonetheless.
This morning I drove down Lancaster Ave. (Rt. 30), from the junction of Rt. 252 in Paoli all the way to Radnor-Chester Rd. in St. Davids, without hitting any red lights. If my calculations are correct, that is 18 lights without stopping! The perfect trip! How preposterous is that?
If you’re not familiar with the area, Lancaster Ave. is the most direct (but hardly the fastest) route from Philadelphia to the western ‘burbs, signifying the famous Main Line. (It is also part of the famous Lincoln Highway.) It’s a four lane (two in each direction) road that goes through many towns and has many lights, simlilar to a Commenwealth Ave. in Boston or Broad St. in Richmond.
…now that’s what I call a Good Friday.

We Are the Animals of the North Pole…
…we wear top hats, because it’s cold. We like snowmen, because they’re nice… what the hell!?!…
Does anyone besides me (and this dude – not safe for work) remember this commercial?
It was for ESPN’s Winter X Games, and it featured a bunch of claymation animals hanging in the snow with a snowman, singing. Right when the got to “nice”, some skier or snowboarder came flying out of nowhere and busted up these clay characters all over the place.
Sooo stupid, but absolutely classic. I would pay top $$$ for a digital copy of this bad boy.
