  • Happy Birthday, Baby

Anyone remember that old AT&T (or similar) commercial from way back when were this guy played a song called “Happy Birthday, Baby” over the phone to someone? You think it is his girlfriend/wife/whatever, but in the end it turns out to be his little sister. Maybe it’s the fact that my little sis is 12 years younger than me, but this commercial always got me.

And, today just happens to be my very own birthday. So sing it to me…

    “Happy Birthday, Baby
I wish I could be there today,
cause I love you, thinking of you,
    so happy birthday baby…”

  • Grinds My Gears: Boiled Veggies

You know what really grinds my gears? Water from boiled vegetables on my plate. Did I order green bean soup or green beans? Did I ask for my sandwich to be soaking wet due to the excess goo that came with my veggies? Why the hell are you boiling them anyway, when steaming is so much better?

That’s what really grinds my gears.

  • It’s all about the Backstreet Boys

First, let’s jam a little Acoustic Ninja, Trace Bundy. This guy is freakin’ sick!

Also checkout Trace’s absurd version of Pachelbel’s Canon.

Next, something I’m told is all over the media but I’ve never heard about, the Chinese Backstreet Boys. These guys are absolutely hysterical:

  • Honey Bunches of Oats is Back!!!

My friends, today is a great day. On a whim, as I occasionally do, I picked up a box of Honey Bunches of Oats. If you are a longtime Songoose reader, you may remember my Open Letter to Post Cereals, in which I informed the company that although HBoO is the single greatest cereal ever created, that I would “not buy another box of Honey Bunches of Oats until [they] stop using Partially Hydrogenated Oils. Period.”

(It should be noted that HBoO had less than 0.5 grams of trans fat per serving, which allowed them to claim 0 grams trans fat on the ingredients list, but that doesn’t make the use of hydrogenated oil right.)

Anyhoo, Post has finally relplaced the hydrogenated oil with plain old vegetable oil — trans fat free. I can now enjoy the best cereal ever made again — my mouth is salivating for tomorrow morning already!

Interestingly, I never received a response from Post (which I always found strange). But perhaps my voice among the many contributed to this great change. Thanks Post.

  • It’s Kentucky Derby Time

I really wanted this video of Seattle Slew winning in ’77, but someone took it off YouTube.

Because of this, I instead bring you a slightly different Must See YouTube Thursday: Stewie the Cat exposing his butt.
